"Astonishing attention to detail creating an abstracted still life out of an every day object as the artist's vision zooms in on a vision of color, shape and form taking the automobile out of mundane everyday existence and transforming it into a dizzying array of color and light." - Bernie McTygue

About Me

Hello and welcome to my website.  My name is Nikki Travaglino and I'm a Connecticut native and mechanics daughter.  Growing up on the Connecticut shoreline I've been exposed to many beautiful waterways, marshes, coves & bays.  The shoreline provides an endless supply of natural beauty as subject matter for my paintings.  I'll often go to the same spot at different times of the day to capture the changing colors.  I love painting the reflections of the objects in the water.

At the age of 7 my parents enrolled me in classes at the local art school on Saturday mornings which meant I would go to work with my father to "the station" ... a Mobil gasoline/service station he owned.  Art class in the morning and working with my Dad in the convenience store in the afternoon. I was always around cars and watched my father spend ten years restoring a 1967 Pontiac Tempest Lemans.  For a short time he had a 1972 Chevy Chevelle SS convertible (the one that got away and I still obsess over it) and now a 1950 Chevy Pickup "Buttercup" that has a sweet LS2 engine.

Through the years I've captured thousands of photos at car shows and I love to paint the chrome and the reflections in the paint of the cars.  It's no surprise that I fell in love and married a man who loves automobiles as much as I do and together we created CT Shoreline Cars & Coffee in Guilford, CT.  Every other Sunday for two hours we gather with other car enthusiasts at Moroso Performance in Guilford, CT.... Jerry talks to people about their cars and I take photos of them for future reference and manage the Facebook page.

I graduated from Quinnipiac University with a B.S. in Marketing & Advertising and enjoyed working in the corporate world as a Marketing Director until my first child was born.  I then switched gears and have enjoyed selling real estate for the past 25 years currently working for William Pitt Sotheby's International Realty.  I'm a lifelong art student who has studied at the Paier School of Art (oil painting course work with renowned artist Rudolf F. Zallinger), Guilford Art Center, Lyme Art Association, and with the late Judith Milgram who interned with Norman Rockwell.
